What Meat Goes With Arrabiata Sauce

Must Try

What meat goes with arrabiata sauce, This Arrabbiata Meat Sauce is spicy, filling, and simple to make. This spicy meat sauce coats pasta perfectly, resulting in a delicious and simple Italian dinner in just 30 minutes.

WHAT EXACTLY IS ARRABBIATA PASTA

Arrabbiata sauce is a tomato, garlic, and red pepper flakes-based Italian pasta sauce. Arrabbiata means ‘angry’ in Italian, which refers to the spiciness of the sauce. The majority of Arrabbiata pasta recipes call for penne pasta, but you can easily serve it with any pasta of your choice.

IS IT HOT

If you enjoy a little heat, this arrabbiata meat sauce is for you! The crushed red pepper continues to add just about the right amount of heat to this sauce. If you don’t like spicy food, reduce the amount of crushed red pepper to about half of what the recipe calls for.

INGREDIENTS FOR ARRABBIATA MEAT SAUCE

Ground Beef– Other types of ground meat, such as ground chicken or ground turkey, can be substituted in this recipe.

For cooking the onion and red pepper flakes, use olive oil.

Crushed red pepper flakes are another name for red pepper flakes.

For a delicious depth of flavor in the sauce, combine onion and garlic.

You can also use whole tomatoes instead of crushed ones. I just find that the crushed tomatoes make blending the sauce easier.

Fresh basil, ripped, for garnishing and stirring in at the end.

For a little spice and flavor, season with salt and pepper.

Pasta- To serve with your sauce.

DIRECTIONS

Brown the chicken meat in a large pot over medium heat. While working in the kitchen and browning the meat, crumble it. When the meat is done, remove it from the pan and set it aside.

Cook for about 30 seconds, or until the olive oil and crushed red pepper flakes are fragrant but not burnt, in the pot. Cook for about 2-3 minutes after adding the diced onion.

When the onions are softened, add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds, stirring the garlic into the onion and olive oil.

Cook for about 15-20 minutes after adding the crushed tomatoes and seasoning with salt and pepper.

At this point, you are free to embark on your own adventure. If you prefer a smoother sauce, use an immersion blender to blend the sauce to a smoother consistency. Keep it chunky if you like it that way.

Return the cooked meat to the pot and stir to combine. Simmer for another 10 minutes on low heat, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Before serving, probably throw in the fresh basil.

Serve your arrabbiata meat sauce over cooked pasta and garnish with fresh basil.

ALTERNATIVES TO INGREDIENTS

Meat- Substitute ground turkey, ground chicken, or a plant-based meat alternative for ground beef.

Canned Tomatoes- I used crushed tomatoes for this recipe, but you can use whole or diced; you may need to blend the sauce a little more before adding the meat back in.

If you don’t have fresh basil, use dried basil instead. Starting with 3 Tablespoons dried basil and increase gradually.

Pasta- Serve with your favorite type of pasta; I liked it with penne, shells, and spaghetti. Depending on your dietary needs, you can also substitute gluten-free or lentil pasta for traditional pasta.

NOTICES REGARDING STORAGE AND REHEATING

You can store your arrabbiata meat sauce in the refrigerator for up to 5 days in an airtight container. To keep the pasta from becoming too soggy, I keep the sauce separate from it.

If you want to freeze the sauce, use a freezer safe, airtight container and keep it in the freezer for up to 3 months. Allow the sauce to thaw overnight in the refrigerator before using, and then heat in a sauce pan until it reaches the desired temperature.
